#196 - The Games You'd Like To Play For The First Time Again Special

Author: Rock Paper Shotgun August 4, 2022 Duration: 1:00:22
I'm back from my holidays to record The Electronic Wireless Show podcast once again, and I've brought a reader email and a new tattoo of Murray from Monkey Island with me. These are both relevant, because the email from John suggests that we talk about the games that we'd like to play for the first time again - just erase them from our heads and encounter them anew. Thus, we discuss Lucasarts games like the Monkey Island series. See, I tied it all together. In fact, I'm not sure if I'd wipe Monkey Island from my head or not, because I can't be sure how much of my love for it is fuelled by nostalgia. Matthew has other concerns, though, because as is our usual fashion we spend some time discussing the question "what games would you play for the first time again?" more literally than is intended. What grave consequences would come from erasing certain things from your brain? What sort of person would co-host Nate be if he wiped the Civ games from his memory? Listen in to find out. 🌐 Read the show notes: www.rockpapershotgun.com/the-electronic-wireless-show-episode-196-the-games-wed-like-to-play-for-the-first-time-again 🛒 Buy some RPS merch: store.reedpop.com/collections/rock-paper-shotgun 💬 Join the RPS Discord: discord.gg/rockpapershotgun Learn more about your ad choices. There's a certain kind of conversation that happens when friends who are deeply into PC gaming get together, and that's exactly what you'll find on Electronic Wireless Show. Each episode from Rock Paper Shotgun begins with a solid, often wonderfully niche topic from the world of computer games-be it a classic strategy title, the latest hardware debate, or the oddities of a new release. But the real charm lies in the detours. The discussion might start with graphics cards and effortlessly meander into an earnest debate about the merits of different aquarium setups or a shared fascination with oddly placed roadside traffic cones. It’s this blend of genuine expertise and unscripted, tangential chatter that gives the podcast its character. You're not just getting analysis; you're getting a slice of the wide-ranging, sometimes absurd, and always passionate conversations that happen when people who live and breathe this stuff simply start talking. It feels less like a formal production and more like you’ve pulled up a chair at a lively pub table where the topics are as unpredictable as they are engaging. Tune in weekly for that specific mix of focused insight and delightful digression.
