Emmys Could Head to Streaming Soon | Entertainment and Celebrity News

The Emmys could be headed to streaming — Amazon Prime Video is reportedly in talks to license the show, ending a 31-year tradition of rotating between broadcast networks. This shift follows similar moves by other awards shows like the ACMs and SAG Awards, with the Oscars also set to stream globally on YouTube. The Television Academy’s struggle to manage ad sales across multiple platforms has pushed them toward a single-platform deal, which could boost investment in the ceremony. While past attempts at exclusive deals (like Fox’s late ‘80s bid) backfired, the current “wheel deal” was created to balance network interests. Meanwhile, changes are being made to streamline the ceremony, and whether other Emmys events follow suit remains to be seen.
