In the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), the master gave his servants talents of gold (or silver) to steward, which were large, valuable units of currency representing immense wealth. While literally money, these talents symbolize God-given resources, including time, abilities, spiritual gifts, and opportunities to be used for a good purpose.
