A friend may become brave because you were brave first.

Someone at school may decide to include another child because they watched you do it.

Your actions can send a message even when you never say a word.

That means leadership is not something you have to wait to receive.

You can begin practicing it today.

Matthew 5:16 teaches:

"Let your light shine before others."

Jesus reminds us that our lives can point other people toward what is good.

Your light does not have to be the biggest light.

You do not have to be famous.

You do not need thousands of followers.

You simply need to faithfully use what God has placed inside you.

Grab a journal and write:

"Who is someone I can influence for good?"

It could be:

A brother or sister, A friend, A classmate, A teammate, A neighbor, Or someone you may not know very well yet.

Then ask: "What is one thing I could do this week that might make their life better?"

Maybe you could encourage them.  Help them.  Include them.  Teach them something.

Then write:  "What kind of leader do I want to become?"

Remember:

You don't need a badge to begin.  You can begin with your choices.
