I'm so glad that a film still from Tumblr over 10 years ago brought me to this film. What sprouted as a possible fashion editorial, ended up being one of the most original and thought provoking films I've seen in quite a while.

Daisies from 1966 is a wild ride of surrealism, freedom, and feminism by Vera Chytilová. I can see how so many film makers are inspired by this experimental take on philosophy and existence through pleasure and all encompassing rebellion.

I talk about why I have so many words but not enough about how brilliant this all was, the incredible fashion and color theory, and film techniques I was drooling over.

Lauren from Fashion Grunge Podcast is joined by a rotating cast of friends for conversations that feel like hanging out in a thrift store back room. The discussions are rooted in a deep, genuine affection for the 1990s-its defining movies, the raw energy of its music, and the iconic, rebellious fashion that gave the era its texture. But this isn't just a nostalgia trip. Each episode uses those cultural touchstones as a launchpad to examine modern pop culture, current fashion revivals, and even the oddly compelling world of reality television. You'll hear thoughtful reviews, personal anecdotes, and unfiltered opinions that connect the dots between a cult classic film and today's social trends. The result is a warm, insightful, and often funny exploration of how the aesthetics and attitudes of the past continue to shape our present. Tune in for a podcast that celebrates the messy, creative spirit of the decade while always keeping one eye on what's happening now.
