Greetings, listeners! Well, it isn't exactly a story. At least, not in the traditional sense of the word, but sometimes, other, more important things need to be aired, like Apollon's disdain for mortals, (even our mortal conduit), botching his name on this podcast. So, while I continue plugging away at the Golden Pail, I'll allow my nephew to throw a hissy fit. At least it keeps my brother Zeus off my back. After all, he tells me he's had trouble finding decent sponsors because the Underworld has been silent, though, in the grand scheme of things, whether we get Demeter's Celestial Seeds to sponsor us or not, this podcast will endure.

In Fireside Folklore with Hades, host Tiffany J. Kim invites you to pull up a chair beside a very different kind of hearth. The premise is simple, if delightfully absurd: the Lord of the Underworld himself, having lost a wager, is now bound to host a modern podcast. Stripped of his more fearsome duties and armed with millennia of insider knowledge, Hades offers a candid, often dryly humorous recounting of the myths that shaped our world. Forget the sanitized versions; here you’ll hear the messy, petty, and profoundly human dramas from the divine source who witnessed them firsthand. This isn't a dry history lesson, but a series of intimate conversations and stories told from a unique vantage point at the crossroads of society, art, and culture. Each episode feels like an eavesdropped confession, where legendary figures are revealed as complex characters and ancient events are unpacked with a surprising contemporary relevance. The podcast thrives on this anachronistic charm-Hades might critique a hero’s strategy with the detached air of a sports analyst or lament a goddess’s fashion choices as if reviewing a red carpet. Tiffany J. Kim’s creation blends education with performing arts, transforming folklore into gripping narrative. You’ll find yourself reconsidering familiar tales, listening for the subtle biases of the divine narrator, and perhaps gaining a little sympathy for the god who drew the short straw. It’s a fresh, character-driven exploration of why these old stories still resonate, delivered with a voice from the one who was actually there.
