...YOU could be in the top 25% of podcasts...

Our guest is CPA-turned-podcaster David Spray. He's a Texas-based serial entrepreneur who recently started a pair of businesses with podcasting at their heart. He talks about why having a podcast is almost like having a superpower, about the 50 ways podcasting can benefit a finance professional, and about why he launched a podcasting-for-CPAs service.

Talking Points. These are some of the topics we discussed in this episode.

  • Why having a podcast is like having a superpower.

  • Relative to blogs, websites and videos, podcasts are the rarest form of online content.

  • The swing from DIY to DFY

  • How consistency could get you to the top 25% of podcasts.

  • The playing field is still relatively open and if you work in a specialized niche, you might be the first and maybe only person in your space to have a podcast.

  • Why start a podcast (we can think of fifty).

Our Guest. David Spray launched his first podcast in 2019 and a second podcast earlier this year. He received a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987 and an MBA from the University of Houston in 1991.

Navigating the path to becoming a Chartered Global Management Accountant involves more than just technical knowledge-it demands leadership. FLP, the Finance Leadership Podcast, from AICPA & CIMA, is here for that journey. Evolving from the Go Beyond Disruption show in late 2022, this podcast focuses squarely on the Finance Leadership Programme, the innovative route to the CGMA designation. Each episode cuts through the noise to deliver timely, actionable insights and essential updates directly related to the FLP pathway. You’ll hear discussions that help bridge the gap between academic learning and the practical, strategic mindset required of modern finance leaders. Whether you're actively enrolled in the programme or considering it, the conversations here are designed to clarify the process, tackle challenges, and explore what it truly means to lead in finance today. Tune in for a resource that feels less like a formal lecture and more like a regular check-in with experts who understand exactly what you're working toward.
