Episode 207: How Could Wii Leave U Behind?

Episode 207: How Could Wii Leave U Behind?

Author: Matt Storm and Gen Moonen February 27, 2026 Duration: 1:12:41

After the Wii, but before the Switch, Nintendo released the Wii U. Not just a touchpad controller for the Wii, but a console with its own library and its own identity. However poor sales, and the fact that many of its titles have been ported to Switch, leave the Wii U in the dust of obscurity.

Matt & Gen are joined by Jacob McCourt for a console retrospective on Nintendo's lowest selling non-portable gaming system. The Gamepad provided unique and fun game experiences. Many fantastic series got their start here, or have a unique entry that lives exclusively on the Wii U. Lowest selling console, perhaps, but not least loved.
