Iranian Rage Against the Regime

Iranian Rage Against the Regime

Author: Geopolitical Horizons September 28, 2022 Duration: 26:01
At least 35 people have been killed in the worst unrest in Iran for years. Protests have spread throughout the country after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was arrested by Iran's morality police for allegedly breaking headscarf rules. Masha Amini eventually died whilst in police custody. Her death resulted in a series of large-scale protests across the country and garnered international attention. The Clerical regime has been in power for four decades and has constantly faced uprisings as it tried to maintain a grip on power. Are we seeing the end of the clerical regime, or will this just be another footnote in Iran's long history?

Dr Muhamed Khan from the Rasanah international institute for Iranian studies, think tank joins us on the geopolitical horizons podcast

Trying to make sense of the world's constant shifts requires more than just headlines; it needs context, depth, and a willingness to ask difficult questions. That's the space Geopolitical Horizons occupies. Each episode moves beyond the immediate news cycle to explore the deeper currents shaping our global landscape-the philosophical underpinnings of power, the cultural forces that drive societies, and the historical patterns that quietly repeat themselves. You’ll hear conversations that connect the dots between politics, identity, and human aspiration, offering not just analysis but a framework for personal understanding and growth in an interconnected age. This podcast is built on the idea that true education in current affairs involves examining the why behind the what, fostering a more nuanced perspective that listeners can carry into their own lives and communities. Geopolitical Horizons serves as a guide for those who feel that the standard narratives are insufficient, providing thoughtful commentary that is as concerned with the future of human society as it is with the day's events. It’s an invitation to look further, think deeper, and consider the vast horizon of possibilities that define our shared reality.
