Episode 11 - Christmas Social: The Aftermath, Kesteven Ladies and Cherie's accronyms

Author: Matt, Lou, Jodie, Dubs, Lucy and Mollie December 27, 2021 Duration: 1:08:24
Welcome to the last episode of 2021! In a rather tired and emotional (hungover) Episode 11 of GrassRoots, the only podcast aimed squarely at the grassroots women’s game we discuss the aftermath of the team Christmas Social, what makes a good rugby party and generally try to piece together the previous 24 hours. We discuss a little bit of rugby, Cherie doesn’t know what AC stands for, and Jodie finally has a proper shower after a game.We meet the fabulous Kesteven Ladies, hear all about their club and their plans for the season and ponder the origin of a 1-star review. We draw a close to 12 Fines of Christmas, although Mollie hasn’t a clue what is going on, and Lou just really can’t seem to keep away from the brown stuff. Overall, this is a very silly episode; definitely not one for the car with the kids in the back. Thanks so much to all our listeners for tuning in over the last 11 episodes; we’ve absolutely loved making it for you. Tune in to GrassRoots-Women's Rugby from the Roots Up, where hosts Matt, Lou, Jodie, Dubs, Lucy, and Mollie gather to talk about the real heart of the sport. This isn't a show about professional contracts or international headlines; it's a bi-monthly conversation dedicated entirely to the vibrant, chaotic, and joyful world of women's rugby at the club level. Each episode feels like pulling up a chair in the clubhouse after a match, diving into the stories of the teams and the unforgettable characters that make the community so special. You'll hear about the essence and culture that binds players together, from the muddy pitches to the socials, and get a genuine spotlight on squads competing in various leagues across the country. Adding a unique perspective, the legendary Cherie (ChezSez) regularly shares intimate insights from her own life in rugby, offering a personal lens on the game's triumphs and challenges. This podcast is built for anyone who loves the unvarnished, authentic side of sports-the camaraderie, the grassroots intrigue, and the pure passion that fuels every scrum and lineout. It’s a celebration of the foundation upon which the entire women’s game is built, told by the people who live it every week.
