GRRL Interludes 003: Music news, fake news, and a Backpage.com update

GRRL Interludes 003: Music news, fake news, and a Backpage.com update

Author: June Owatari February 5, 2017 Duration: 0:00
In this quick episode, I give some updates on past Grrl on Grrl guests, including new albums and award nominations! Plus I plug a great podcast and a couple of articles about journalism and fake news, and a quick update on Backpage.com--which I talked about in Interlude Episode 001--and some organizations to check out in the wake up the shutdown. I also have the pleasure of talking over some ambient music created by Asher Mendel, because I felt weird having just my voice talking with no background. So uh, what do you think? Is it too distracting? Too gloomy? TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK.

Hosted by June Owatari, Grrl on Grrl sits at the vibrant crossroads of music, identity, and community. This isn't just another interview format; it's a space built on intersectional and trans-inclusive feminist principles, where the conversation flows as freely as the songs. Each episode features a musician from any genre you can imagine, turning the spotlight not only on their art but on the unique experiences that shape it. You'll hear about the songwriting process, the realities of the industry, and the personal stories that rarely make it into a standard press bio. The heart of the podcast, though, might be in the curated playlists. Every guest brings their own soundtrack, sharing the tunes that move them, which means every episode is packed with both profound insight and a fantastic, personally-selected soundtrack. It’s about pulling back the curtain on creativity while celebrating the diverse voices within music communities. Tune in for genuine dialogue, a deeper understanding of the artists behind the work, and a consistently refreshing mix of tracks you might not have found on your own.
