Leadership and friendship are not the same skill, and for most of her adult life, host Shelly Rood confused the two. In this solo episode, she names two women veteran friendships that ended in recent years, the wilderness underneath both, and what she's still learning about presence, agency, and boundaries.

This isn't a story about failure. Both women knew what they wanted from the relationship, and both had the courage to act on it. Shelly walks through the difference between a friendship running on a rhythm mismatch, two women built for different paces who are both still fully in, and one that's become imbalanced, where one woman is doing all the giving.
