Author: Dustin K. September 16, 2019 Duration: 56:48

Welcome to this weeks episode of Heavy Metal History. My guest this week Hal Microutsicos, he is the brains behind the one man Death Metal band, Engulf. Hal writes all aspects of the music and plays and recorded the Guitar and Bass for his upcoming Third and last chapter/EP in a series of 3 for ENGULF! A new chapter of dark and brutal death metal. Based in New Jersey, Engulf is Hal Microutsicos' one-man band, drawing influence from all dark corners of the extreme music realm. Hal is also part of death/black metal band Blasphemous.
“A continuation of the story arc introduced by the Gold and Rust EP, Transcend follows our human protagonist through an out of body experience in which he witnesses the three otherworldly entities as they travel to earth through portals unknown to execute ‘the event’“ Check out “Transcend” when it drops September 20th!

Dustin "Wildcard" Koetsch hosts Heavy Metal History: The Podcast, a weekly deep dive that treats the genre's past not as a dry timeline but as a living, breathing story of artistic struggle and triumph. This isn't just a collection of trivia; it's an audible journey built on meticulous research and firsthand accounts. Episodes often dissect exactly how landmark albums were constructed, from the initial riff to the final master, revealing the creative decisions and studio battles that shaped them. Koetsch also brings in musicians themselves as guests, turning the show into a roundtable where influences, personal histories, and behind-the-scenes stories are shared directly from the source. The focus is on the records-the stories of how they were written and recorded, capturing the specific struggles and victories embedded in their grooves. By moving chronologically through metal's evolution, this podcast builds a comprehensive and nuanced narrative, connecting the dots between eras and subgenres to show how the music we hear today was forged in the fires of the past. For anyone who has ever wondered about the real people and processes behind the powerful sound, this series offers a definitive, engaging resource.
