Welcome to season four of Hip Hop History by Drew Curry. This season we are going to start with the four pillars of Hip Hop. This first episode we are going to do a deep dive into DJ-ing. How it started, major developments in early dj-ing, the originators of hip hop dj-ing, and the skills it takes to be a good DJ. Throughout the first three season we have talked about specific DJ's. This episode will talk about a few of those dj's but overall about the history of and the maturation of DJing and the role that the godfathers of hip hop had in creating a genre of music. The most popular genre of music in the world now. With this being the 50th anniversary of the art form being created, I thought it would be best to start at the basics, the pillars that were formed together to make the most beautiful, soulful, and intelligent music that has ever been created. Thank you for those that came before us who crafted this into the phenomenon that it has become. Thank you. And thank you for listening to this episode. Please tell a friend to tell a friend and we will see you next week for pillar number two, graffiti. Thank you and have a great day.
