The Landmark Study: Parents Want Independent Meaningful Learning

What do parents want in their child’s learning experiences? Self-Directed Education: Landmark Research on Family and Student Interests and Needs, the first US national study of its kind, provides key insight into what parents want, suggesting that millions are open to and desire expanding  ways of learning. In fact, this study shows that nearly 19 million families are searching for a better learning experience for their children. More than ever, families across the nation are open to exploring alternatives to their current choice in education.

We Are Born To Learn~ Self Directed Education

Mosaic is a global digital platform and community that supports independent, meaningful learning. Th goal of Mosaic is to empower individuals, families and communities through shared resources, thought leadership, and relationships. One of the recent resources that Mosaic launched was a large national study that delved into what parents want in their child's learning experiences. The answer was overwhelming.

The biggest interest was in Self Directed Education

Parents are looking for their kids to be more actively engaged in the learning process.

In this episode I speak with Bonnie Benjamin-Phariss, the Interim Executive Director of Mosaic and Bill Vesneski, Head Researcher on the study.

We explore:

  1. The research
  2. What parents want and  what parents don't want
  3. Why a study like this is so needed
  4. How it means to be actively engaged in the learning process
  5. The top goals that parents share or want to see
