46: Why Freelance Writing is the #1 Online Business in 2020

Author: Michael Leonard: Copywriter & Freelance Writing Coach January 8, 2020 Duration: 19:36

On this edition of Writing Wednesday, I talk about the reasons why I love freelance writing. If any of these reasons resonate with you but you are not even sure what freelance writing is, be sure to check out episode 44, where I tackle that exact topic: "What is Freelance Writing".

After I quit my job, I tried almost every online side hustle from flea market flipping to blogging. I learned a lot of lessons along the way, but the best one that stuck was the belief that freelance writing is the best job in the world. You can literally start today and get paid relatively quickly! If you are feeling stuck in your 9 to 5, or are looking for a way to make supplemental your income, freelance writing is the perfect side hustle.

We live in a fast-moving society that prioritizes instant gratification and freelance writing can be that idea that both vindicates your ideas and pays the bills. Here are the reasons I love freelance writing:

  1. You can get paid quickly
  2.  You can control your destiny
  3. You can work remotely - anywhere!
  4. You pick your clients, how many hours you work and when you want to work
  5. You learn more about yourself and how to run a business

Michael Leonard was a professional copywriter earning a solid salary before he walked away from that career in 2017. With no safety net, he built a thriving online writing business from the ground up. In his Inspire Your Success podcast, he gets into the real work behind that transition, moving beyond simple inspiration to offer a practical roadmap. Each conversation is grounded in his experience as a freelance writing coach, focusing on the actionable steps needed to build a sustainable independent career. You’ll hear honest discussions about the mental shifts required to leave a traditional job, the systems that actually generate income, and how to navigate the common pitfalls of entrepreneurship. This isn't about vague motivational talk; it's a detailed look at creating a business that affords more freedom, whether that means paying off debt, traveling, or simply designing a life with more flexibility. Tune in for a blend of strategic business advice and personal development insights, all drawn from Michael’s own journey from a structured 9-5 to successful self-employment. The podcast serves as a direct mentorship for anyone feeling stuck, providing the tangible tools and mindset needed to turn professional aspirations into a working reality.
