Dana Point honors surfing pioneer Lorrin Whitey Harrison with a lifesize bronze statue at Watermen’s Plaza. Harrison, who started surfing at twelve, claimed championships and pioneered waves at San Onofre Beach. Harrison worked as a lifeguard and stuntman, organized Californias first outrigger race, and started the Dana Outrigger Canoe Club. His statue joins legends at the plaza along Pacific Coast Highway.
