That percentage is consistent with common contingency fee arrangements in large class-action lawsuits.


A federal judge in the case acknowledged the lawyers had done significant work but also described a 30 % fee as comparatively high under the circumstances, prompting extra scrutiny before final approval. The judge ultimately approved a 30 % fee award for the legal team representing the survivors as part of finalizing the settlement.
