Why Planet 9 May Not Exist with Kevin Napier

Why Planet 9 May Not Exist with Kevin Napier

Author: John Michael Godier June 18, 2026 Duration: 19:36

Mike Brown and Konstantin Batygin wrote the Planet Nine hypothesis paper in 2019. Since then, there has been a concerted effort to find the mysterious planet 9. Last month, Kevin Napier, a PHd candidate from the University of Michigan lead a team to study the apparent clustering of Extreme trans-Neptunian objects, and found that there was No Evidence for Orbital Clustering in the Extreme Trans-Neptunian Objects. Is this correct? Do we need more data? or is Planet 9 real? Kevin joins John Michael Godier to discuss his paper and provide a response to rebuttals by Mike Brown and Konstantin Batygin. The Planet Nine Hypothesis https://arxiv.org/pdf/1902.10103.pdfNo Evidence for Orbital Clustering in the Extreme Trans-Neptunian Objects https://arxiv.org/pdf/2102.05601.pdfWant to support the channel?Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/EventHorizonShowFollow us at other places!Website: https://www.eventhorizonshow.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/jmgeventhorizonInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jmgeventhorizon/Music featured on Event Horizonhttps://stellardrone.bandcamp.com/https://migueljohnson.bandcamp.com/https://leerosevere.bandcamp.com/https://aeriumambient.bandcamp.com/FOOTAGE:NASAESA/HubbleESO - M.KornmesserESO - L.CalcadaESO - Jose Francisco Salgado (josefrancisco.org)NAOJUniversity of WarwickGoddard Visualization StudioLangley Research CenterPixabay
