Kenny Dentons" There Ain't No Rules In Rock n Roll" Stories From My 45 Years in The Music Industry.
This Deep Dive review is from Kenny Denton’s memoir chronicles the surreal recording career of Hercules the Bear, a famous grizzly that transitioned from a media sensation to a recording artist. Following a period of financial instability, Denton was hired by two casino owners to produce a cover of the song “Running Bear” featuring the grizzly's authentic vocalizations. The narrative details the logistics of recording the animal in a Scottish den and the subsequent high-profile promotional stunts managed by publicist Max Clifford. Despite a disastrous live television performance and legal interference from the RSPCA, the record became a financial triumph through an unconventional debt settlement. Ultimately, a large-scale purchase by a religious organisation ensured that the single sold a quarter of a million copies, cementing the bear’s peculiar legacy in the music industry.
