The EES is expected to be operational by mid-2025, while the ETIAS start date is yet to be announced. The U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 2 travel advisory for Italy due to potential terrorist threats. France has temporarily reintroduced Schengen border checks from November 1,2024 to April 1, 2025 over immigration and potential terrorism concerns.
