Actualmente es Investigador de la Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales de la UNAM, y profesor de Antropología Económica en la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana - Iztapalapa y en el CIESAS-CDMX. Investiga temas de antropología política y antropología económica en ámbitos indígenas.

Richard Stahler-Sholk es profesor emérito de Eastern Michigan University.
