127. Raw Convos: Beyond Small Talk

Author: LGBTQ+ Podcast by Jojo & Dayra April 9, 2025 Duration: 55:24

In this episode, we explore how to go beyond the usual "How's work?" and ask deeper questions like, “What are you learning about yourself right now?” to build more meaningful connections.

We also dive into key questions for new relationships, inspired by therapist Jeff Gunther. What counts as cheating? How do we handle privacy, exes, and boundaries? Tune in for insights on fostering communication, trust, and understanding in any relationship.

List of Questions:

QUESTIONS TO ASK SOMEONE AT THE START OF A RELATIONSHIP

  • What counts as cheating?
  • Are there certain things we mutually agree to NOT tell eachother? What if an ex texts me? What if my friend doesn’t like you? Do you wanna know or should I handle it privately?
  • Are there things in our relationship that are just for us, is it okay if I share everything with my therapist, family or friends? Where is the line for privacy?
  • Do you need to know if I have hooked up or dated any of my friends? Would you feel weird or upset with meeting someone I had a past with?
  • How do we feel about staying in touch with an ex partner?
  • How do you feel about me being close with the gender or genders I'm attracted to? Does it bother you, do you want to meet them?

  • There's a particular kind of conversation that happens when you're among friends who truly get where you're coming from-raw, honest, and often hilarious. That's the space Les Chat Podcast-LGBTQ+-Lesbian Latinas creates. Hosted by Jojo and Dayra, a queer couple whose dynamic is as engaging as their insights, this podcast feels less like a formal show and more like pulling up a chair at their kitchen table. Their discussions are grounded in the specific, vibrant intersection of being both Latina and part of the LGBTQIA+ community, drawing from their own life experiences alongside those of friends and family who are either in the community or staunch allies. You'll hear them dive into the messy, beautiful, and complicated realities of relationships, sex, and dating, while also unpacking topics like labels, the reclamation of slurs, and breaking down stereotypes. It’s storytelling with a point of view, where personal anecdotes open up into broader conversations about identity and culture. Tuning into this podcast means getting a genuine, unfiltered look into a world that is often misunderstood, all delivered with the warmth and familiarity of a long-overdue chat with your favorite people.
