Bertrand McKinneyBertrand "BERTY" McKinney is a Gospel Hip Hop artist, writer, producer and A/R for the We All 1 Records label as well as 1 of the hosts of Let's Talk Gospel. BERTY, which stands for Baptized Enlightened Redeemed Trusting Yahweh, was born in New Orleans, La and raised in Tylertown, Ms by his father and mother. Growing up, God was always a part of his life, and church was a common thing in their household. The village that raised BERTY helped him to learn of God, but he realized that he didn’t really know God until he progressed further into adulthood. During this journey, BERTY started to date and fall in love hard with almost every relationship he had. After one bad break up, BERTY contemplated committing suicide until his aunt, who he hadn’t spoken to in months, called him and said, “God told me to tell you that he loves you and don’t do it”. At that moment, BERTY knew that God had never left him and that he had allowed the world to sidetrack him. He decided to move forward by letting the world go and recommitting his life back to God through his music. BERTY has been rapping for over 20 years now and has appeared on Dr. Bobby Jones presents, The Impact Network, and The SOAR Awards, to name a few. His music can be perceived as inspiring testimony with songs that highlight his growing relationship with God, life lessons and motivation to keep going. BERTY has shared the stage with some of Gospels biggest talents. His debut single titled “Miracle” featured Wess Morgan, and his studio album Altar Ego is available on all streaming platforms
