The Spirituality Of Trading

Trading begins for everyone as a pure pursuit for money, but those who stick to the activity long enough begin to realize that trading is far more than that. It is an activity that demands that you work on yourself, before you work on the market. The trader must first find a way to become more disciplined, more principled, more patient, more calm, more steadfast, more resolved. The trader must get himself to display less ego, less anxiety, less impulsiveness, less senseless risk taking, and less gambling. All of these things are accomplished inside of the trader, not inside of the market. Trading forces the trader to look inward, to detect his/her flaws. It demands that the trader improve his/her weaknesses and accentuate his/her strengths before any reward outside of himself/herself can be achieved. Any activity that demands one look within first is spiritual in nature. Any activity that rewards one for being more righteous, more true, steadfast, more pure is spiritual and trading does just that. Trading is NOT about buying something for $1 and selling it for $2.
