Training a Competitive Mindset

Training a Competitive Mindset

Author: Pete Jacobs June 24, 2021 Duration: 27:07
If you only train in a certain way, with a particular mindset to practice being "present, calm and confident" does that mean you will find it hard to do anything but that same response in competition? In this episode I talk about the benefits of using my approach to training your mind and body to connect at high levels of power, efficiency, performance, and why this approach is best for most people. And the flip side to this conversation is how you can then still tap into the aggressive or adrenaline response of "fighting" in competition when needed. Key points are a trigger phrase I use and recommend - "No effort, just movement" Increasing your level of mental and physical thresholds require a very controlled approach You can't train out your instincts and stress responses when you change your story, you will respond as per your story This is a quick recap of some conversations with clients, but the pathway to understanding and implementing the benefits and further understanding the techniques and bigger picture is much broader and longer. Take the journey with me, I will help you understand performance and health like you never thought possible, but only if you dare 😁. That's what the discovery call is for, to see if we align.  www.liveyourownfit.com

Finding a sustainable path to better health often feels like navigating a maze of conflicting advice. Live Your Own Fit | LYF Performance cuts through that noise with grounded conversations led by Pete Jacobs, a World Ironman Triathlon Champion, and his wife Jaimielle. This isn't just about extreme athleticism; it's about the practical, balanced choices that build a resilient life. You'll hear discussions that connect the dots between nutrition, daily movement, and the mental frameworks needed to stick with it. Pete naturally draws from his own journey to the pinnacle of endurance sports, not to prescribe a champion's regimen, but to share the broader lessons on mindset and perseverance that apply to anyone. The podcast operates on the principle that true fitness is deeply personal-it's the energy to keep up with your kids, the clarity to focus at work, and the vitality to enjoy your days. Each episode offers a blend of personal anecdotes, actionable lifestyle tips, and thoughtful dialogue aimed at helping you define what performance means in your own life. Tune in for a refreshingly honest take on building health from the ground up, where the goal is lasting well-being, not just a temporary fix.
