Courtesy of missingpitchers.org: On May 23rd, 1993, Dorothy Pitcher (47) and Danielle Pitcher (14) were kidnapped while walking along highway 181 at the s-curve, in Sunizona, Arizona. The mother and daughter left home at approximately 1pm to walk the 3 miles to the local RV Park store located on the corner of highway 181 and highway 191 in Cochise County, Arizona. It was common for the family to walk to and from the store. However, Dorothy was adamant about not accepting rides from strangers and expressed this to her children. Along their route, Dorothy and Danielle stopped at the house of one of Dorothy’s older daughters and asked if she would like to join them. She declined. This was the last time anyone spoke to Dorothy and Danielle. After this encounter, there were few sightings of the two. Dorothy & Danielle Pitcher were last seen on highway 181, at the s-curve, in Cochise County, 1.5 miles away from their home on Ash Creek Road in Sunizona, Arizona. A dog was brought in and picked up the mother and daughter’s scent at the store and followed it along highway 181, but the scent was dropped at the s-curve. Husband and father, Jack Pitcher, was ruled out as a suspect after passing 2 polygraph tests. There have been ‘person(s) of interest’ but to this day, no arrests have been made. ‘Someone knows what happened to Dorothy and Danielle Pitcher on May 23rd, 1993.’ Dawn Pitcher continues to search for answers to what happened to her mother and sister and will not rest until she finds justice for Dorothy & Danielle and peace for her family. She created the organization Missing Pitchers in 1993 to aid in the search for her mother and sister and has spoken out about the case. The Pitcher case remains open and criminal activity is suspected. It is now considered a murder investigation. Travis Hartford hosts Locating the Lost, a journey into the shadows where facts fade and questions linger. Each episode is a deep, respectful exploration of cases that have slipped through the cracks-individuals who have vanished without a trace, cold cases that defy conventional explanation, and occasional brushes with the unexplained that surround such events. The focus here is on the human stories at the heart of the mystery, told with a careful balance of detail and empathy. You’ll hear Travis delve into the available evidence, discuss the theories that have emerged over time, and often sit with the unsettling reality that some puzzles remain incomplete. This isn't about sensationalism; it's about the persistent search for answers in the face of silence. For anyone drawn to the complexities of true crime and the haunting possibility of the paranormal, this podcast offers a thoughtful, compelling space to consider what happens when someone simply disappears. The atmosphere is one of quiet investigation, making it a distinctive voice in the genre.
