Hosted by Michael The Sound Guy, the Location Sound Podcast pulls back the curtain on the unseen and often underappreciated world of audio recording outside the studio. This isn't about music production or sound design in a controlled environment; it's about the gritty, unpredictable, and fascinating reality of capturing clean dialogue and atmosphere wherever the story takes you. Michael sits down with the people who do the job-location sound mixers, boom operators, and other field recording professionals-to dig into their experiences on feature films, indie projects, TV commercials, and documentary interviews. Every conversation in this podcast reveals the specific challenges and creative solutions that define production audio. You'll hear firsthand accounts of dealing with unexpected noise, managing complex equipment in difficult conditions, and the subtle art of collaborating with directors and actors to get the perfect take. The discussions are grounded in real-world stories, offering practical lessons and historical context that resonate whether you're a working professional or simply curious about how the sounds in your favorite shows and movies are actually made.
