Maida Morgan ~ LO2

Maida Morgan ~ LO2

Author: Dodd Vickers October 15, 2020 Duration: 57:56

The creative role of a location manager during the early stages of production development one that involves a special and collaborative relationship with the production designer and director.  During her decades as a film maker,  Maida Morgan has become one of those trusted few invited to fulfill this role. She was first introduced to film making after a chance encounter with Steve McQueen as a child. She has since gone on to work with some of the top directors, designers, cinematographers and production teams in the business.  As one of my early mentors in the industry, I am especially proud to have her join me on the back channel where the real work gets done on set, "Locations on Two!"

Ever wonder how that perfect, crumbling mansion or that iconic city street ended up in your favorite film? The answer usually involves a location manager, a pivotal yet often overlooked figure in production. Locations on Two, hosted by Dodd Vickers, pulls back the curtain on this crucial role. This isn't just a series of dry interviews; it's a collection of conversations filled with the kind of lively, behind-the-scenes banter you'd hear after a long shoot day. Listeners are brought directly into the trenches of film and television production, hearing firsthand accounts from the people who scout, secure, and manage the very spaces where stories come to life. Each episode serves as a unique blend of review, history, and personal anecdote, exploring how locations become silent characters in their own right. You'll discover the unexpected challenges, the serendipitous finds, and the minor miracles that happen far from the soundstage. Tuning into this podcast means getting a genuine sense of the real work that happens on set, long before the director calls action. It's for anyone who loves TV and film beyond the final cut, offering a fresh perspective on the craft from the ground up.
