17. Cream 'Cream Of The Crop' In 1966, 3 of the UK's most renowned and sought after musicians united and set aside their differences to form the band that would create, pioneer and define the 'Electric Blues Rock' movement in Britain. Having all left other bands and projects to further this endeavour, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker came together, as Rock's first supergroup, to form Cream! In their short time together, Cream pushed the boundaries of what British Blues was - by pioneering the use of the electric guitar & the status of 'lead guitarist', incorporating elements of Hard Rock, Psychedelia and Jazz into their music and setting the bar so high for other acts heavily influenced by the Blues, but wanting to find their own sound.  Laz & Felipe choose their favourite Cream songs, discuss the history and relationship of the band, identify and discuss the similarities and differences between the Cream albums and figure out how and why these three guys did what they had to do to certify themselves and live up to their self appointed reputation as the cream of the crop! Hosts Lazarus Michaelides and Felipe Amorim-Laz and Felipe to regular listeners-share a deep, conversational passion for guitar riffs, anthemic choruses, and the cultural moments that only rock music can create. Their Long Live Rock 'N' Roll podcast is a dedicated space for that enthusiasm, moving beyond simple rankings to explore the texture and context of the genre. Each episode focuses on a specific song, band, or seminal album, dissecting not just the musical composition but the human stories and historical conditions that fueled its creation. You’ll hear them analyze why a particular guitar solo resonates decades later, or how a band’s internal dynamics shaped a classic record, always with a focus on the artistry and impact. This isn’t a dry history lesson; it’s a lively discussion between two knowledgeable fans who believe the music’s power lies in its combination of raw sound and relatable humanity. Whether examining a legendary track from the 70s or a pivotal album from the 90s, the conversation in this podcast aims to connect the notes you hear to the people who made them and the listeners who found meaning in them. For anyone who has ever been captivated by a drum fill or a lyric shouted from a stage, Long Live Rock 'N' Roll offers a thoughtful, engaging deep dive into the soundtrack of rebellion and resonance.
