On this episode, the guys recap the Dallas Mavericks' 130-122 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 3 of their first round series. Despite the Mavs outscoring the Clippers 37-28 in the fourth quarter, it wasn't enough to overcome the second quarter, where the Clippers outscored the Mavs 45-31. Luka Doncic became the first Maverick to ever record a triple double in the playoffs with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, but his night took a turn for the worst when he suffered a nasty ankle sprain, putting his status for Game 4 in question. As good as Porzingis was, and as much as the rest of Doncic's teammates tried to rally in his absence, Kawhi Leonard's dominant performance was just too much to overcome. We discuss all of this and more in this episode. As always, thanks for listening! Learn more about your ad choices. Can the Mavs realistically make a seven-game playoff series competitive with the Clippers? Could they even potentially pull off a major upset when it's all said and done? We believe so, and Dalton Trigg (@dalton_trigg) and Matt Galatzan (@MattGalatzan) layout the blueprint for a Mavs upset of the Clippers in this week's episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast. On this episode, Dalton and Matt talk about the Mavs' 126-111 lost to the Los Angeles Clippers, including some positives that can be taken from that game as the potential Mavs/Clippers playoff series looms, as well as some hard truths going forward. On this episode, the guys recap the Mavs' 114-110 overtime win over the Kings, which ended a two-game losing skid. With the win, the Mavs are still the only team in the entire NBA to have not lost three games in a row. Luka Doncic put up a monster performance in this one, scoring 34 points to go with 20 rebounds and 12 assists. Doncic became the youngest player to ever put up a 30-20-10 stat line. The guys discuss how this Luka performance reminded them of some of Dirk Nowitzki's performances back in the day, where he would just seem to will the Mavs to victory at times. Is there any way the Mavs could upset the Clippers in the playoffs if Doncic is playing that way on a nightly basis? Catch all that Mavs talk and more right here. Thanks for listening! On this episode, Dalton Trigg (@dalton_trigg) and Matt Galatzan (@MattGalatzan) express their joy from the NBA (and Dallas Mavericks basketball, specifically) finally being back in action, as scrimmages officially began on Wednesday. The Mavs will play their first scrimmage against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night at 6 p.m. From there, the guys discuss how the Mavs have taken over the 'bubble' from a social media standpoint, and how that show of great chemistry could help them going into the future. Other topics discussed include how the NBA's bubble experiment is working perfectly so far, and wondering why the Mavs didn't take a chance on Bol Bol last summer when they had the opportunity. On this episode, Dalton Trigg and Matt Galatzan are joined by DallasBasketball.com's boss man Mike Fisher to discuss all things Mavs Bubble-related. First, the guys dive into a couple of recent 105.3 The Fan interviews with TNT's Kenny Smith and Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle. Smith believes that the Mavs don't need a '3rd star,' something we've also written about here at DBcom in recent weeks. Is he right? In the second half of this episode, Fish talks about his personal expectations for the Mavs as they prepare to fly to Orlando for the NBA restart set to take place on July 30 (July 31 for the Mavs). Although this NBA bubble experiment is mostly about playing basketball and finishing the season, Fish offers up an interesting point about how this could be the Mavs opportunity to start informally recruiting their '3rd star,' should they decide that they need one. On this episode, the guys discuss former Mavs head coach Avery Johnson saying Dallas could be a 'sneaky' pick to get to the NBA Finals this season with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis playing at their best, as well as Trey Burke taking Willie Cauley-Stein's roster spot. From there, the guys talk about to newly released Mavs 'Orlando Bubble' schedule and make predictions for that eight-game stretch. Thanks for listening! Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode, Dalton and Matt are back after more than two months to discuss the NBA's 22-team plan to resume the 2019-2020 season. The plan was officially passed by the league's Board of Governors on Thursday, giving all fans something to look forward to again. The guys are joined by Kirk Henderson of Mavs Moneyball halfway through this one, and they talk about the NBA plan's formatting, how the Mavs (and Luka Doncic specifically) will adjust, and potential pitfalls with the restart date being two more months away. This week, Dalton and Matt are back to discuss how life has been since the COVID-19 pandemic forced the NBA to suspend its season. Having a lot more time at home than they usually do, the guys discussed what tv shows they've really gotten into over the last few weeks, as well as video games and quarantine snacks too. Although this particular episode isn't centered on the Mavs like it usually is, we encourage our listeners to go back and listen to some of our favorite episode with big guests like Mark Cuban, Donnie Nelson, Will Cain and many others. On this episode, Dalton and Matt recap the Dallas Mavericks' thrilling 127-123 overtime win over the New Orleans Pelicans, which was the first of many duels between young superstars Luka Doncic and Zion Williamson. The guys talk about the great defensive jobs Maxi Kleber and Kristaps Porzingis did on Williamson, as well as the MVP-level Porzingis has been playing over the last month. From there, the conversation shifts to what the ceiling of this team could be heading into the playoffs, while also taking a quick glance at the current Western Conference standings with only 18 games remaining. On this episode, Dalton and Matt discuss the Mavs' recent 4-game stretch, where they've gone 3-1 overall, but 3-0 with three blowout wins in the games where both Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis play. The Mavs' young star duo's chemistry is just now starting to click in a way it didn't early on in the season, and it couldn't come at a better time with the Mavs jockeying for playoff position in the Western Conference. The conversation then shifts the Mavs' loss to the Hawks from Saturday night ... a game that's being protested by owner Mark Cuban due to a very questionable call at the end of the game. Although this protest is technically just for one game, the guys discuss why this move from Cuban sends a bigger message to the NBA about its officiating lately. Tim Hardaway Jr. has emerged a key contributor to the Mavs' success this season, not only with his stats, but also with the passion and energy he brings on a nightly basis. Hardaway Jr.'s shooting hasn't just been 'good' this se…
