Hackatao and Hex6c Live on MoCDA

Author: Museum of Contemporary Digital Art May 19, 2020 Duration: 1:15:09

Welcome to MoCDA talk series.  In this talk you will hear from artist duo Hackatao (Sergio Scalet and Nadia Squarci) in conversation with artist and researcher Hex6c (Massimo Franceschet). They are currently spending their quarantine time in Italy, near Udine while collaborating on a new artwork called Cypher::Prophet, later auctioned on AsyncArt.

We created this as a response to COVID-19. These talks are a way of documenting the times we live in and to share thoughts from international artists and the art industry in times of social distancing.  I hope you won’t mind the quality of the recording as all of the talks were live-streamed from Instagram.  Thank you to all the artists, curators and art experts who took part in this series.

Step inside the digital atelier and the virtual gallery with MoCDA: Museum of Contemporary Digital Art. This isn't just a series of lectures; it's an auditory exploration of the vibrant, often intangible world where art meets technology. Each episode delves into the ideas and processes behind digital creation, from generative algorithms and AI-assisted works to immersive VR installations and blockchain-based artefacts. You'll hear directly from the artists pushing these boundaries, the curators tasked with presenting ephemeral work, and the conservators facing the unique challenge of preserving art meant to evolve or decay. The conversations go beyond the 'how' to tackle the 'why,' examining what digital mediums say about our culture, identity, and the very definition of art in the 21st century. Produced by the Museum of Contemporary Digital Art itself, this podcast extends its mission beyond the screen, offering a space for deep discussion about understanding, enjoying, and protecting these groundbreaking works. Tune in for a thoughtful, accessible guide to the art of our time-an art that is constantly rendering, buffering, and redefining itself.
