Army Vet Kills ROTC Instructor, Wounded Students
Former soldier, Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, opened fire in an ROTC classroom at Old Dominion University, killing the instructor and injuring two students. Jalloh, who had previously pleaded guilty to aiding the Islamic State group, was released from federal prison in December 2024 despite his felony record. The FBI labeled the incident an act of terrorism. Kenya Chapman, who sold the gun to Jalloh despite his felony record, was charged with lying on a purchase form and dealing guns without a license. The victim, Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Shah, was an ROTC leader and helicopter pilot with service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Investigators are still determining Jallohs motives and contacts, and officials are urging the public to provide tips.
