Quebec Launches Cultural Discoverability Program

Quebecs First Cultural Discoverability Program: UQAM Launches Graduate Microprogram

Quebec is debuting its inaugural university program focused on cultural discoverability this fall at the Université du Québec à Montréal. The graduate-level microprogram from the Faculty of Communication will train professionals to enhance cultural content on major online platforms.

The program, backed by a funding of over one hundred eleven thousand dollars from Culture Minister Mathieu Lacombe, aligns with Quebecs push for improved online visibility, including the recently passed Bill one zero nine.

The training will equip individuals with skills to monitor how cultural works circulate online and devise effective promotion strategies. It aims to empower roles like digital cultural development officers, enabling them to significantly impact the sector.

The minister emphasized the programs alignment with Quebecs work at UNESCO to bolster culture in the digital era, transforming challenges into opportunities for local creators.

UQAMs rector described the program as a crucial shift from research to practical training for digital cultural spaces, preparing experts to support Quebecs cultural industry for years to come.
