A Tribute to John L. Allen, Jr., the best in the business of Vatican analysis

He was the seminal Vatican analyst for over 25 years, his cogent analysis and sharp insights what any and all in the biz (and outside of it) turned to so that we could understand the inner (and outer) workings of the Holy See.

After battling cancer for the past few years, John L. Allen, Jr. returned to the house of the Father on January 22, 2026, at 61 years old. We mourn his loss and pray for the repose of his soul and for those who loved him most, especially for the comfort of his wife, Elise.
