Hosted by Julia Sagbien, New Horizons in Engaged Buddhism offers a series of conversations that feel more like quiet, insightful dialogues than formal interviews. Each episode sits down with a prominent voice within the engaged Buddhist movement, exploring the personal journeys that shaped their commitment to social action. These discussions move beyond abstract theory, delving into how core values like compassion, interdependence, and right action are being applied to address real-world issues-from environmental crises to social justice and community healing. You’ll hear guests share not only their aspirations but also their practical views on how spiritual practice and societal change are deeply intertwined. This podcast, organized by the Buddhist Coalition for Democracy, provides a grounded space to consider what it means to live one’s beliefs actively in a complex world. The result is a thoughtful collection of stories and perspectives that challenge the separation between the inner life and outer action, inviting listeners to reflect on their own capacity for engaged, compassionate living. Tune in for a nuanced exploration of how ancient wisdom is being skillfully adapted to meet modern challenges, one conversation at a time.
