#70 - We Joined Deep Rock Galactic and Immediately Started a Dwarf-Sized Disaster

Author: Ovox and ChukTomahawk April 20, 2025 Duration: 1:01:01

Ovox and ChukTomahawk get their first dive into Deep Rock Galactic and it’s a wild ride from the jump. Join us as we fumble through our first missions, marvel at the space-dwarf chaos, and try (badly) to make sense of alien bugs, mining lasers, and the Abyss Bar space beers.

We give our unfiltered first impressions after several hours of gameplay, covering everything from the procedurally generated graphics and intense soundtrack to the bizarre lobby hub and those relentless cave-dwelling enemies. There’s a bit of lore, a lot of laughter, and some honest love for what might be one of the most fun co-op games we’ve played recently.

We even draw a few comparisons to Helldivers 2 -a newer title that captures some of the same frantic, co-op magic.

If you're into sci-fi shooters, comedy, or chaotic teamwork with a side of dwarven yelling, this one's for you. Rock and stone, to the bone!

We are extremely grateful to have you here. If you enjoy the podcast, your help with a rating, review, and a share to a fellow gamer or two would support us tremendously and help us get to more listeners out there. From both of us, Thank You!

There's a particular kind of conversation that happens between friends after a long gaming session, where the jokes flow as freely as the analysis. NEW WAVE GAMING captures that exact feeling. Hosts Ovox and ChukTomahawk use their shared history and sharp comedic timing to unpack the games and industry moments that define modern play. This isn't a dry review show or a news recap; it's a deep, often hilarious, look at why we spend time in these digital worlds and what that says about the culture surrounding them. Each episode feels like pulling up a chair in a lively discussion, where passionate insights are delivered with a wink and a well-timed jab. You'll hear them dissect everything from the latest blockbuster releases to the quirky indie titles that capture their imagination, all through a lens of genuine fandom and shared laughter. Tuning into this podcast means joining a conversation that is as thoughtful about game design as it is about the pure, silly fun of the experience. Ovox and ChukTomahawk's dynamic makes complex topics accessible and turns nostalgic reminiscing into comedy gold, creating a space where the love for video games is the main quest, and humor is the constant power-up. It's that rare blend of smart commentary and unscripted camaraderie that keeps an audience coming back.
