Season 4 Ep 16: Normalizing the Journey with Lisa Dennen-Young

Season 4 Ep 16: Normalizing the Journey with Lisa Dennen-Young

Author: Lisa Kuzman March 18, 2021 Duration: 41:36

This week, I'm thrilled to share my conversation with a truly special guest: Lisa Dennen-Young. She's a Forbes featured leadership coach who mentors womxn to be epically expressed as their highest calling leadership for success in their businesses, love, and as the visible leader in their communities. Lisa was the 1st WOC forensic linguist in the United States, and combines her lineages of medicine women and civil rights activists with Martin Luther King Jr so that you can experience your healing, embodiment, and unique prosperity codes to unlock your most empowered life.

She also witnessed me at a very vulnerable point in my trauma healing journey as my coach and mentor in her 2021 All Access Mastermind.

It was such a delight to sit down with Lisa and discuss:

  • the beauty of noticing patterns and solidifying our foundations
  • evolving and showing up for ourselves... and the ripple effects we can create as leaders
  • exploring her process through my own experience (and I get emotional, y'all)
  • dismantling the idea that any of us are "too much"

"No matter where you are and what step you're taking next, if and when you experience things that make you feel like 'What is happening to me? I thought I passed this already! Am I taking steps backwards?' This is part of the process that indicates that you are on the journey. You are on the path. You are progressing. It's from that place of chaos... in whatever form it takes for you, that's where the rebirth gets to happen."

Lisa, thank you again from the bottom of my heart for doing the work that you do, and for coming on the show today. I want ALL of you listening to check out her offerings at https://www.lisadennenyoung.com/ and learn more.

And of course, you can find me over at lisakuzman.com, and book a call if you want to chat. I'd also love for you to join us at my trauma-sensitive Facebook group for coaches and leaders: https://www.facebook.com/groups/764082764458292/

There's a quiet shift happening in how we think about authority and influence, and New Wave Leadership Podcast is right at the heart of it. Host Lisa Kuzman believes traditional, top-down leadership models have run their course, proving ineffective for today's complex world. Instead, this movement champions a much broader, more inclusive vision. Each episode digs into the real, often unspoken challenges that come with stepping into a role of influence, whether you're in a corner office, a community group, or simply leading your own life. The conversations here actively work to expand our definition of who gets to be a leader, arguing passionately for the necessity of diverse identities, perspectives, and lived experiences at the helm. You'll hear frank discussions about authenticity, the personal hurdles leaders navigate behind closed doors, and practical ideas for cultivating your own unique leadership identity without conforming to outdated standards. Tuning into this podcast feels like joining a necessary dialogue-one that moves beyond theory to explore what it genuinely means to show up and make an impact on your own terms.
