Season 5 Ep 12: Taking a Pause & Building Tenacity with Sumeena Gupta

Season 5 Ep 12: Taking a Pause & Building Tenacity with Sumeena Gupta

Author: Lisa Kuzman June 24, 2021 Duration: 49:18

I am SO excited to share this conversation with all of you. Working with women as a business mentor, Sumeena Gupta is on a mission to be the change — and after 25 combined years of corporate AND entrepreneurial experience, she's definitely got what it takes. Her work helps women build businesses that allow them to have freedom and impact while building wealth, with the ultimate result of generational change.

The timing on this episode couldn't be better. I'm traveling at the moment, and that's something Sumeena and I discussed at length:

  • how traveling changes the way you look at the world — and your business
  • the power of discomfort and how it helps you build tenacity
  • why you should pause, question everything, and then take action on the answers

...and so, so much more.

"Problem solving in those [travel] situations makes you come back to your business and realize that you can do this. The problems we deal with in our business are nothing compared to those problems! [...] The beauty is, I know for me, I came back to my business with a lot more empathy. Empathy for what needed to be done, for how people were impacted by my work, who I wanted to contribute to, what I wanted to support. That real understanding of what's out there and what needs our attention... you see it and you can't unsee it."

Sumeena, thank you so much for coming onto the show and sharing your incredible perspective with us. To learn more about Sumeena and everything she has to offer, head on over to https://www.sumeenagupta.com/ and remember: you can do this!

There's a quiet shift happening in how we think about authority and influence, and New Wave Leadership Podcast is right at the heart of it. Host Lisa Kuzman believes traditional, top-down leadership models have run their course, proving ineffective for today's complex world. Instead, this movement champions a much broader, more inclusive vision. Each episode digs into the real, often unspoken challenges that come with stepping into a role of influence, whether you're in a corner office, a community group, or simply leading your own life. The conversations here actively work to expand our definition of who gets to be a leader, arguing passionately for the necessity of diverse identities, perspectives, and lived experiences at the helm. You'll hear frank discussions about authenticity, the personal hurdles leaders navigate behind closed doors, and practical ideas for cultivating your own unique leadership identity without conforming to outdated standards. Tuning into this podcast feels like joining a necessary dialogue-one that moves beyond theory to explore what it genuinely means to show up and make an impact on your own terms.
