Season 5 Ep 15: Plants, Money, and Telling Yourself a New Story

Season 5 Ep 15: Plants, Money, and Telling Yourself a New Story

Author: Lisa Kuzman July 5, 2021 Duration: 15:11

We all have things in our lives that we feel like we'll never really figure out — especially those of us in leadership roles! (For me, two of those things were plants, and money.) But this week, I'm encouraging you to examine the stories you tell yourself around those things. Are they still true? Or have you been holding on to old, outdated beliefs about yourself and your abilities?

Now don't get me wrong: I'm a huge fan of delegating out the things that just aren't in my wheelhouse. That doesn't mean that I'm not constantly evolving, growing, and updating those old stories! If you can show up, lean in, and then give space, you just might look back in a few months and realize — that thing that feels impossible right now? You're kinda killin' it!

Because, spoiler alert? I recorded this episode after watering my plants and paying my bills, two things I now thoroughly enjoy doing!

Have you joined my trauma sensitive leadership group yet? It's where you'll find like-minded leaders having deep conversations, and we'd love to have you add your voice: https://www.facebook.com/groups/764082764458292/

There's a quiet shift happening in how we think about authority and influence, and New Wave Leadership Podcast is right at the heart of it. Host Lisa Kuzman believes traditional, top-down leadership models have run their course, proving ineffective for today's complex world. Instead, this movement champions a much broader, more inclusive vision. Each episode digs into the real, often unspoken challenges that come with stepping into a role of influence, whether you're in a corner office, a community group, or simply leading your own life. The conversations here actively work to expand our definition of who gets to be a leader, arguing passionately for the necessity of diverse identities, perspectives, and lived experiences at the helm. You'll hear frank discussions about authenticity, the personal hurdles leaders navigate behind closed doors, and practical ideas for cultivating your own unique leadership identity without conforming to outdated standards. Tuning into this podcast feels like joining a necessary dialogue-one that moves beyond theory to explore what it genuinely means to show up and make an impact on your own terms.
