Fruit trees can be fussy - but there are some types of fruiting plants that even a child can grow successfully. The father daughter gardening and writing team Steve and Emma Biggs know better than most. They grow a wide variety of fruiting plants in their garden in North Toronto. And they are co-authors of Grow Gardeners: Kid Tested Gardening with Children.
So in this episode of The Urban Forestry Radio Show, Steve and Emma talk about No Fuss Backyard Fruit and we explore delicious fruits that you can easily grow and use for preserves, pies and juice. They talk about currants, gooseberries, elderberries, serviceberries and other types of easy-to-grow fruits. And they also answer our questions on how to lure kids into the garden to play, learn and help with some of the work!
