Are we Creating Mollycoddled Kids? Part 1

Author: Danusia Malina-Derben March 9, 2024 Duration: 43:02

Welcome to another Parents Who Think debate, where we dive deep into the hot topics of parenting. This episode, we're kicking off the "Are we Creating Mollycoddled Kids?" debate, and it's set to be quite the ride!

If you're new to Parents Who Think, don't sweat it. In this 10-minute episode, we'll give you the lowdown on how PWT debates work and introduce you to host, Danusia Malina-Derben. Don't let her laid-back demeanor fool you; she's genuinely a mother to ten!

In episode one, we get into the subject of Mollycoddled Kids. You'll get to know the three debate parents as they spill the beans on their lives in a quick-fire segment called Guest Life Stories. Then, Danusia Dishes the Dirt on her background with mollycoddling, setting the stage for what's to come.

Next up, we have the Say It In Six segment, where parents sum up their opinions in just six words. It's harder than it sounds! Once we've got the nub of their views on mollycoddling, we move onto The P That Fits Me segment. Guests declare themselves as having Predictable, Progressive, or Polarizing opinions - it's like planting a flag in the ground to mark their territory.

Do they ever get real when they tell us about their childhoods and how these shape their feelings about mollycoddling their own kids, or not?! And that's a wrap for this episode.

But don't worry, we've got plenty more content coming your way. Tune in next week for episode two of this debate, where we'll dive deeper into the topic with the same three PWT parents. Get ready for some serious tea-spilling in a segment called Get Up On Your High Horse, where the core debate goes down on whether we are creating mollycoddled kids. You won't want to miss it!

Danusia Malina-Derben hosts Parents Who Think, a podcast built on the premise that thoughtful disagreement is more valuable than easy consensus. As an entrepreneur, author, and mother of ten, she facilitates candid conversations that deliberately challenge the comfortable assumptions and unspoken rules of modern parenthood. Each episode features intelligent parents from a wide spectrum of backgrounds, engaging in no-holds-barred debates on crucial dilemmas. The discussions are raw and unfiltered, offering listeners a range of perspectives that often exist outside mainstream parenting narratives. This isn't about finding a single right answer but about illuminating the complex, often hard realities of raising children. Whether your own views are conventional or more marginalized, this podcast provides a rare space for genuine intellectual friction. You'll hear nuanced arguments that prioritize thinking over dogma, inviting you to examine your own choices more deeply. The goal is clarity, not comfort, making it an essential listen for anyone who believes parenting deserves more than a recycled script. Tune in for conversations that interrupt the status quo, acknowledging that agreement is not the point-rigorous, compassionate thought is.
