The Suns pulled within 89-85 in the fourth quarter before New Orleans went on a huge run to earn the victory.
Game 5 of the series is in Phoenix on Tuesday night.
Brandon Ingram had 30 points to lead the Pelicans, while Jonas Valanciunas added 26 and CJ McCollum added 18.
The Suns were led by Deandre Ayton's 23 points.
The Suns were called for 28 fouls in the game. The Pelicans were called for 16.
New Orleans went 32-42 from the free-throw line. The Suns went 10-for-15.
Phoenix shot 43-for-85 from the field. New Orleans was 40-for-85.
