The Climate Report - 10/13/22

Author: KVMR-FM October 14, 2022 Duration: 29:38

The Climate Report for 10/13/22 is the second of a multi-part special series on a just-released ground breaking new report on the Sierra Nevada region and the impacts of climate change.

The first ever comprehensive and scientifically-backed “Sierra Nevada Regional Climate Vulnerability Assessment” was recently released, and it’s a multi-year effort by the Sierra Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Partnership (Sierra CAMP), an arm of the Sierra Business Council.

For this second special edition Climate Report on the new analysis, we describe some of the unique features of the Sierra Nevada:

- we make up 25% of the entire state’s land mass

- we provide 60% of the state’s developed water supply

- our region is made up of 88% wilderness, 12% agriculture, and less than 1/2 of 1% developed for human use

- we discuss the report’s mission of looking at a triple bottom-line: climate impacts on people, the environment, and our economy/infrastructure

- we define some basic terms and describe how they set about measuring the climate, economic, and population data
