The Climate Report - 10/27/22

Author: KVMR-FM October 28, 2022 Duration: 29:46

The Climate Report for 10/27/22 is the third of a multi-part special series on a just-released ground breaking new report on the Sierra Nevada region and the impacts of climate change.

The first ever comprehensive and scientifically-backed “Sierra Nevada Regional Climate Vulnerability Assessment” was recently released, and it’s a multi-year effort by the Sierra Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Partnership (Sierra CAMP), an arm of the Sierra Business Council.

For this third special edition Climate Report on the new analysis, we recap some of the unique features of the Sierra Nevada:

- we make up 25% of the entire state’s land mass and provide 60% of the state’s developed water supply

- our region is made up of 88% wilderness, 12% agriculture, and less than 1/2 of 1% developed for human use

Then we dove into some of the reports findings and how our environment will be impacted. To be continued next show.

In future shows we will discuss how it will impact our people and regional economy.

Tune in to the next Climate Report on Thursday November 10th, when we continue to dive in to the most important parts of the new SNRCVA report and visit The Climate Report social media page for daily news headlines.
