We all want to know the best ways to market our audio podcast. And there are a lot of shows out there that focus on the marketing side of podcasting. But rarely do they focus on how to create a "good" show from the start.  So today's episode I give you 7 of the worst ways to market you podcast.

  1. Ignoring Target Audience: Failing to identify and target the appropriate audience for your podcast can be a major marketing mistake. Broadcasting to a demographic that has little interest in your content can result in low engagement and limited growth.
  2. Overlooking SEO Optimization: Neglecting to optimize your podcast episodes for search engines can hinder discoverability. Avoiding relevant keywords, poor episode titles, and inadequate show descriptions can make it difficult for potential listeners to find your content.
  3. Inconsistent Release Schedule: A haphazard release schedule can lead to frustration among your audience. Inconsistency in publishing episodes may cause listeners to lose interest or forget about your podcast. Consistency is key for building a loyal audience.
  4. Neglecting Social Media: Failing to leverage social media platforms to promote your podcast is a missed opportunity. Social media can be a powerful tool for engaging with your audience, sharing updates, and creating a community around your content. Ignoring these platforms can limit your podcast's growth potential.
  5. Ignoring Audio Quality: Poor audio quality can be a major turn-off for listeners. Neglecting to invest in good equipment or skipping the editing process can result in a subpar listening experience, causing listeners to abandon your podcast.
  6. Overlooking Collaborations and Cross-Promotion: Not reaching out to other podcasters for collaborations or cross-promotion can limit your exposure. Building relationships within the podcasting community can help you tap into new audiences and grow your listener base.
  7. Lack of Engaging Content: Focusing solely on self-promotion or neglecting the quality and relevance of your content can lead to a decline in listenership. Ensure that your podcast provides value, entertainment, or useful information to keep your audience engaged and coming back for more.
