Author: Lee Ann Mancini February 27, 2024 Duration: 0:00
“MOPS has done a really good job in making women and mothers the best leaders and the best volunteers for their community. So, I will say community with peer-to-peer connection, spiritual growth, and leadership growth are the three main benefits of being part of a MOPS group.” -Karla Merrell. Karla Merrell is a mother, former attorney, TEDx speaker, entrepreneur, and the Southeast Church Engagement Manager for MOPS International. She listened to God’s call when she was called to serve women first as a member, then as a volunteer, and ultimately came into working with MOPS full-time. She cultivates relationships with churches in the Southeast region of the United States to spread the MOPS mission and start more communities for mothers. During this episode, Karla discusses the transformative mission of MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and the exciting new changes in the program, now known as The MOMco. She shares the inspiring journey of MOPS, which began in a living room with seven mothers in Denver, Colorado, over 50 years ago. It has since impacted over a million women annually, leading to 49,000 mothers embracing Christ in the past seven years. Karla also discusses the benefits of MOPS, now called The MOMco, including fostering a community for moms in various stages of motherhood, providing a safe space for spiritual growth, and empowering women to become impactful leaders in their communities. Key Takeaways: Overview of MOPS nonprofit organization and its mission to encourage and equip moms of all ages. MOPS's impact on mothers in various stages of parenthood and their collaboration with local churches. Benefits of being a member of MOPS (The MOMco): Community and peer-to-peer interaction. Spiritual growth and support for faith. Empowerment and leadership development for mothers. Process for churches to bring MOPS program to their communities. Emphasis on creating a welcoming space for mothers and their children. Transition to The MOMco: The evolution of MOPS to encompass mothers beyond the preschool years and encourage mothers to age with the group and not leave the group because their children have aged. Standpoint is a Christ-centered organization focusing on bringing mothers closer to Jesus. MOPS Instagram & Facebook. RCK social media: Facebook Join our Facebook community group!
