READeem the TIME
The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has seized the godless:
“Who among us can dwell with the consuming fire?
Who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?”
He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly,
who despises the gain of oppressions,
who shakes his hands, lest they hold a bribe,
who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed and shuts his eyes from looking on evil. (Isa. 33:14–15)
Yahweh the Living God often reveals His glorious presence by means of fire throughout redemptive history.
This song and chapter seeks to trace the theme of fire from Genesis 3 to Revelation, especially as it relates to God’s saving and judging presence. In other words, this is a Biblical theology of fire as a means of God’s revelation of Himself throughout Scripture.
