Patreon.com/RememberTheGame XCOM 2 has been lurking near the top of my "someday I'll play it" list for years, and I finally puled the trigger (no pun intended). After over 70 hours of sitting at my PC fighting aliens, I can safely say that XCOM 2 isn't just one of the best tactical RPGs I've ever played, but one of the best games I've ever played, period. If you've never played it, XCOM 2 is a tactical RPG, like Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics. You move your soldiers around on a board game-esque grid, and take turns with the computer, who's doing the same with aliens and robots. But in between missions, you're traveling the world gathering resources and using them to upgrade both your troops and your ship. Aliens have taken over the planet, and it's up to you to take it back. It's a little tough to pick up out of the gate, but once you're over the hump, it's addictive as hell. My guest this week is the winner of our Extra-Life charity auction from last December, Robert. He picked this game and now I can see why. We get into the meat of XCOM 2, talk about the superb War of the Chosen DLC, talk about our favourite soldier/ability/equipment combinations, and laugh at the bulshit that is missing a 94% shot with your ass on the line. And before we save the world, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, we HAVE to talk a little Switch 2. How am I feeling about WrestleMania this year? And will OG Switch games be discounted after the Switch 2 drops? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 of the highest scored tactical RPGs on Metacritic: Valkyrie Chronicles, Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, and Fire Emblem: Awakening. Learn more about your ad choices. Comedian Adam Blank invites you to pull up a chair for Remember The Game? Retro Gaming Podcast. This isn't a dry recap of release dates or technical specs. Instead, each episode feels like cracking open a time capsule with a friend. Adam and a guest choose one title from their past-a cartridge they rented a dozen times or a disc that defined a summer-and just talk about it. The conversation meanders through personal memories, the sheer joy of discovering a hidden level, the frustration of a cheap boss fight, and the unmistakable music that’s still stuck in their heads decades later. You’ll hear the laughter and camaraderie that comes from shared, albeit sometimes very specific, experiences. The goal of this podcast is to capture that specific feeling of being a kid again, trading secrets by the lockers or arguing about which game was truly the best. It’s less about critique and more about connection, built on a foundation of pixels and nostalgia. Tune in for a warmly familiar, often hilarious chat that celebrates the games that shaped us, one deeply personal and wonderfully digressive story at a time.
