If you want to see the type of material that Ashley and I will have over at Patreon.com/julesandashley then check out this bonus episode on Andrea Yates. This is a tragic case where Andrea was suffering from postpartum depression, psychosis and Schizophrenia and against the advice of her doctors, continued to have more children. Andrea would go on to kill her five children, tragically drowning them. This didn't come out of nowhere, there had been multiple suicide attempts and talk of killing her children. This is a case of a system that failed Andrea, a husband that ignored the signs despite being told by therapists, doctors and friends of Andrea that her children were in trouble and a woman who believed that Satan was living inside her and that to kill her children while they were innocent was truly the right thing to do. This case is about the intersection between responsibility and mental illness in the judicial system. This case is heartbreaking, as it involves the death of children, please practice self-care if you choose to listen.
